Hawk at Palo Alto Baylands

I heard some screeching calls, and wandered down the bike path, and came upon a hawk in a tree. It posed for me there for a few minutes before flying much closer to where I was, and I was able to get some more close-ups. It definitely was interested in me!

SF Botanical Garden 01/12/2020 - Pink Magnolias

It’s a new decade, and a new year- 2020! It turns out I was here at the SF Botanical Garden exactly one year ago, on Jan 12, 2019… and again today. I guess I’m a creature of habit. Mid to late January is the best time of the year to visit the SF Botanical Garden due to the magnificent magnolia blooms from the magnolia campbelli- himalayan magnolias that are so very beautiful. I also caught some birds in the garden as a bonus.

Hummingbirds Stanford Cactus Garden 01/01/2020

Each year, around January, I try to visit the Stanford Cactus Garden to see the hummingbirds because they do something very interesting, they collect fibers from the various cactus in the garden, and use those fibers to build their nests. It’s very hard to capture them at this task, as they move quickly and don’t seem to like being observed.
